Walking or Hiking - The Miners Way & Historical Trails and the Shannon Blueway.

The Arigna Miner's Way and Historical Trail is a network of scenic walking paths that wind through the adjoining counties of Cavan, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Sligo. The Miner's Way retraces many of the historic routes once used by miners commuting to the Arigna coal mines. One particularly easy-going section follows country roads and tracks alongside the river and a disused railway line, stretching from Arigna to Drumshanbo.

You can walk or cycle the scenic Acres Lake Boardwalk, then continue along the canal towpath to Leitrim Village and onward to Carrick-on-Shannon. For those who prefer water-based activities, it's also possible to paddle or kayak this route. Start your journey at Lough Allen Adventure in Drumshanbo to explore the trail from the water. The canal connects to the River Shannon and the Shannon-Erne Blueway, offering a unique way to experience the tranquil beauty of the region.
